Things to keep in mind

Canceling your Planet Fitness membership is complex, involving sending certified mail and requires specific wording. Despite this, cancellations may be delayed due to the gym's reluctance. For common obstacles, see below. Questions? Contact support at [email protected] from your purchase email.

• Outstanding balances at your home club can impede your cancellation. Your account cannot be fully canceled until these balances are resolved, even after your certified letter is received. Quit Planet Fitness does not address these overdue balances, these must be resolved by you if they are present.
• If you purchased your membership through a third party, such as a Groupon deal, it's possible that you must cancel through the third party, not your home club. Quit Planet Fitness is unable to assist in these instances.
• If you had a financial cosigner when signing up for your Planet Fitness account, they must initiate the cancellation, not you (though this is rare and only typical if you were a minor when you signed up).
• Minors must have their parent or legal guardian complete the cancellation process on their behalf.

The following shouldn't prevent you from cancelling, but are good things to keep in mind when tracking what charges are happening when:

• To stop billing on the 17th, your cancellation notice must reach the club by the 10th, allowing up to 7 business days for processing. If the club doesn't receive your cancellation notice within this timeframe, you may be billed for one additional month. It can sometimes take up to 10 business days from creation of your letter by Quit Planet Fitness to receipt by your home club, so plan accordingly.
• To stop the billing of the annual fee, cancellation must be completed by the 25th of the month prior to the annual fee date.
• If your membership has a minimum term and is canceled prior to end of contract term, a $58 buyout fee will be required by Planet Fitness. Quit Planet Fitness is unable to assist with this fee and does not resolve it. This must be resolved by you if present.
